Have a Sweet Day!

Hi Everyone!  Wow, this post was a long time coming!  I'm having some major computer issues and can no longer open Photoshop.  I've spent many hours trying to figure it out, but I think it is actually my computer having more issues (it's 6 years old and has been having some problems for awhile).  Looks like I may have to order a new computer sooner than I was hoping.  Sigh.  Anyway, I do still have an older version of Photoshop Elements on my computer so I'm trying to use it to limp by until I get a new computer.  (I miss Photoshop so much!!!)  I also had to recolor the image before I could make my card (more on that below).  Well, enough of that, how about the card? :)  (Sorry the photo is kind of dark.  I just can't get it to look right using PSE.)

Isn't this image so adorable?!  As soon as I saw this little cutie, Lulu, from Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps, I knew she would be coming to play at my house! lol  She is part of the Lulu and Friends set.  (Lacey also has her in stock at Stamp and Create here.)

She is colored with copic markers (colors listed at the bottom of the post).  I masked the image after coloring to spray the background and the ground with my air compressor.  I used some patterned papers from My Mind's Eye's Miss Caroline: Fiddlesticks paper pad and flowers from Wild Orchid Crafts.  I also used a silver filigree corner from Wild Orchid Crafts and used a Snow Cap Paint Dabber to paint it white.  I didn't have blue flowers that worked well with the colors in my image and patterned paper so I used a BG72 copic marker and my air compressor to spray some white flowers to match my color scheme.

I decided to ink her up last weekend so I could play along with the current Kraftin' Kimmie challenge (which is almost over now!), but I had some help with my coloring so I didn't get my card finished until yesterday.  My 21 month old son has been in the habit lately of climbing up on my chair and coloring like Mommy.  I forgot and left my finished image sitting on my desk when I turned around to do something.   I heard the sound of markers on paper and knew exactly what he was coloring!!  Luckily, I had written down all my marker colors so it was easy to recolor the image once I found the time.  Little stinker.  :)

Now, that I finally got my card finished, I'm playing along with the Kraftin' Kimmie challenge which is a sketch challenge.  I'm also playing around with the current Wild Orchid Crafts challenge which is Bingo.  (I used gems, flowers, and lace.)

Have a wonderful weekend!

For my card today, I decided to work with the adorable Angel Cody image from illustrator Sylvia Zet.  I love all of her illustrations and I'm excited to have some cute little baby images to work with!  The sentiment is from the Welcome Baby Sentiments set.

All the rest of the details about my card are listed below, but I do have to mention those little wooden buttons I used.  I've been looking for some great wooden buttons that don't break the bank.  I got a huge sack of them from Oriental Trading and I'm impressed with the quality and assortment.  It's a great buy if you're looking for wooden buttons.

Birthday Wishes

Hi Everyone!  Hope you all had a good weekend!  The weather here can't make up its mind whether it wants to snow or show signs of spring.  I think spring may be a ways off still with all the snow storms we've been having lately.  The weather makes it easy to stay inside and create cards, though.

Today, I decided to pull out this adorable Tobi with Love image from the Laurence Collection.   Isn't this such a cute image?!  I stamped the image on copic x-press it cardstock with tuxedo black memento ink.  I decided to do some paper piecing on the package and colored the rest of the image with copic markers.  I added some  shadows on the polka dot patterned paper using a marker.   I used some patterned papers from My Mind's Eye's Lime Twist: Life of the Party paper pad and finished my card off with some stitching, baker's twine, and a button.  The sentiment is from the Bountiful Baskets Additions stamp set from Waltzingmouse Stamps.  The sketch was inspired by this card by Sandra MacLean (you will only be able to see it if you're a Splitcoast Stampers fan club member).

Have a great week!

Niki

you're the best

Hey Everyone!  I've been busy with family stuff and haven't made any cards for a week or so now.  I thought I would share this card that I made for the Stampavie Creations newsletter.  It's a free magazine publication filled with beautiful samples from the design team.  You can download it here and subscribe to get an email when future issues are released.

I used the adorable Giddy Up image from Tina Wenke along with a sentiment from her Sweet Wishes set.  I stamped the image on copic x-press it cardstock with tuxedo black memento ink.  I colored it with copic markers (the marker colors are listed in the newsletter).  I used some patterned papers from Cosmo Cricket's Wanted paper pad.  I sponged some antique linen, tea dye, and walnut stain distress inks around my papers before stitching and assembling.

Have a wonderful day!

Niki

Whimsy Stamps Elisabeth Bell Stamp Release Blog Hop

Welcome to the Elisabeth Bell for Whimsy Stamps BLOG HOP!

On Monday, we announced the wonderful news that Whimsy Stamps has welcomed the amazing Elisabeth Bell to our family of Whimsy Stamps artists. Whimsy Stamps is releasing 4 new Elisabeth Bell Little Cottage Cuties rubber stamps today and these new goodies are available to buy right now from the Whimsy Stamps store along with all your Whimsy favourites.

The Whimsy Stamps DT and Special Guests have been previewing these beautiful stamps for the past 2 days, and today we are celebrating their release with a BLOG HOP! The hop starts today (Wednesday March 7th at 12.00PM EST) and ends on Wednesday March 14th at 12.00PM EST.

For this hop we have five different prize draws! One lucky hopper will win the entire new release of ALL four stamps. We also have four mini candy stops throughout the hop where you can enter to win a new release stamp! We're not telling you where they are, so be sure to complete the hop to find them!

For my card today, I decided to use the adorable Apple Blossom image.  They are all so cute so it was difficult to choose which one to use next, but eventually this little darling won out.  I stamped the image on copic x-press it cardstock with tuxedo black memento ink and colored it with copic markers.  I die cut the image and kraft layer behind it with Labels One and Labels One Small nestability dies.  I used some patterned papers from Echo Park's This and That Graceful paper pad.

Sometimes, I like to get out supplies I haven't used in a while and just play.  I love the look of white paint on kraft cardstock.  So, I dabbed some white paint (blank canvas from Claudine Hellmuth) on the edges of my kraft cardstocks using one of the Claudine Hellmuth paint brushes (great quality) before stitching my layers.  I used a red copic marker and my air compressor to spray the white crocheted lace from May Arts.  (I wanted it to stand out a little more against the patterned paper.)  Like on my card yesterday, I used a sentiment from the Summer Letter Seals stamp set.  I finished off my card with some tiny pearls and flowers from Wild Orchid Crafts (20mm red open roses, 25mm red open roses, 15mm red open roses, and 4mm red closer rose buds).  I'm also entering this card in the Wild Orchid Crafts Get in Shape challenge.
