Happy Sunday!! It's time for another High Hopes challenge. This week, I am hosting the challenge and I decided we should do a masculine card challenge. That means no flowers! lol Remember every week, if you play along in the challenge and post a link to your card on the High Hopes blog, then you will be entered for a chance to win some free stamps. The diva hosting the challenge gets to pick the prize stamps and I chose Peg Leg Pete and Pirates Birthday. I used them for my card along with Treasure Map.
I just love the High Hopes Pirate stamps. I don't care for most pirate type things, but these pirates are adorable and perfect for me since I have a little boy. I created one of my favorite cards (that I have ever made) earlier this year with some of the other High Hopes pirate stamps.
I started out by stamping my image on white cardstock. I sketched in the boards for the boat and colored my image using copic markers. Then, I inked the edge using antique linen distress ink (Ranger) and distressed it using an edge distressor (CTMH). I added a couple copper brads and a red mat.
Then, I cut my card base and layers. I stamped the Treasure Map a few times on kraft cardstock to create my patterned paper. I inked the edges and distressed them like I did with the pirate image. I also lightly inked the entire map using the antique linen ink to make it a little dirty looking. (Ink it unevenly so it looks realistic like it is dirty in spots). Then, I crumpled the entire piece of cardstock up in a ball to make it resemble a worn treasure map. Then, I added a little more inking to bring out some of the wrinkles in the map.
I added a red mat to the map. Then, I stamped my sentiment on the vintage cream cardstock and added the copper brads. I added a piece of twill with a copper ribbon slide to the upper left corner before adhering the layers to my card. I used foam adhesive to add my image for a little extra dimension.
Come join us in the challenge for a chance to win these cute pirate stamps!
