Tags Two Ways

It's hard to believe that it is already getting close to the middle of August.  Man, this year is flying by!  But the good news is that that means I get to share a sneak peek of not one, but two new stamps sets releasing on the 15th from Papertrey Ink.  Our challenge this month was to create a project using the 2009 Autumn Tags set and then, turn around and create a duplicate of the project using 2009 Halloween Tags.  Fun!

I used the new 2009 Autumn Tags set to create a fun little gift set for a teacher.  Teacher's Apple is a perfect stamp set to pair with the little apple tags.  I stamped a sheet of kraft cardstock with the little apples in a circle using pure poppy ink to create the patterned paper for my project.

Here's a close up of my card.  I love my binder edge border punch and the look of ledger papers on cards and scrapbook pages.  I stamped lines from Journaling Lines on rustic cream cardstock and punched the edge with the binder edge punch.  I added a new leaf border to help it stand out against the white cardstock card base.  I stitched a piece of my apple stamped kraft cardstock to a new leaf mat.  Then, I stamped a circle from Borders and Corners: Circles and a sentiment from 2009 Autumn Tags on white cardstock and cut it out with a nestability die.  I added a new leaf mat, tied my button to my pure poppy stitched ribbon, and used a glue dot to adhere it to my circle.  This held it in place while I assembled my layers.  I added my circle using foam adhesive to my lined paper and then adhered the lined paper to my apple paper.  I wrapped the ribbon around the edges before adhering all the layers to my card.

I used one of the small white gable boxes for my gift box.  Before assembling it, I stamped my sentiment from Teachers Apple with palette noir ink and heat set it.  Then, I cut my apple stamped kraft cardstock, added a new leaf mat, and stitched the layers together.  I adhered them to my gable box using score tape.  I tied a pure poppy stitched ribbon around the handle and tied a new leaf button to the center using rustic twine.  Then, I created my kraft tag (I left it blank so I can add my son's teacher's name to it when we give it to her) using a second apple tag image (love those apple tags!) and a circle from Borders and Corners: Circles.  I added a new leaf mat and stitched some buttons to the edge.  I punched a hole so I could tie the tag to the gable box.

Now, here is my Halloween version of the same gift set and card.  I followed the same steps to create this gift set.  I used the new Hocus Pocus patterned paper as one of my patterned papers.  It includes lots of fun patterns perfect for Halloween.

I stamped the jack-o-lantern and "Happy Fright Night" patterned paper for my card using true black ink along with pumpkin spice ink from Versa Magic.  (I can't wait for the new Orange Zest ink, cardstock, and ribbons!  They're perfect for Halloween!)  My buttons are just some from my stash that coordinate with the pumpkin spice ink I used.

Isn't that little spider tag so cute!?!  I think it is my favorite in the 2009 Halloween Tag set.  The sentiment below the spider is actually a separate stamp so you could use a different sentiment or stamp it in a different color if you wanted to.

Now, hop on over to the other ladies' blogs to see some more wonderful creations using the 2009 Autumn Tags and 2009 Halloween Tags stamp sets: Nichole, Becky, Betsy, Dawn, Debbie, Geny, Heather, Lauren, Lisa, Melissa, and Michelle.

Thanks for stopping by!

Niki

Love your boxes - 2 totally different looks, and both are super! The cards too - it's amazing how even with the same template for the cards and boxes you've made them completely different. Wonderful showcase of the new stamp sets!
