wonderful friend

**Papertrey Ink 2009 Anniversary Stamp Set Spoiler**
Another card to share today using the fun Papertrey Ink Anniversary stamp set for 2009 so don't scroll down if you are still waiting and wanting to be surprised.  But there is also some stitching info and photos of the snow we've been getting below the card, so if you're interested, you could close your eyes and scroll down a bit! lol *wink*

I love the circle/dot background stamp included in the set and had to use it for the background of my card.  To create my kraft layer, I cut my cardstock pieces, stamped my background in dark chocolate ink, and sponged more dark chocolate ink around the edges.  Then, I added the stitching before adding the other elements of my card.

I had a question the other day about whether I stitch through two layers when stitching on my cards and I thought I would copy & paste my answer here in case others might be wondering or find the info useful.

"It depends upon the layer when I'm stitching.  If it is a patterned
paper layer with straight stitching that will be going on the card
base, then I stitch just the patterned paper so the stitching doesn't
show up inside the card.  The rest of my layers like a patterned paper
layered with cardstock or the cardstock for the image layered on
another piece of cardstock are all done through two layers.  All the
zig zag stitching is done through two layers as well.  I have a little
Janome Sew Mini that I've been using for almost 2 1/2 years now and I
haven't had any problems so far."

I know I mentioned we were getting snow yesterday.  It snowed all day!  It was a really wet snow so it probably won't stick around long, but I had to snap some photos to show my husband so I thought I would share them here, too.

I took this one last night from our front porch looking out across our yard.

And I took this one this morning of our house and front yard when we got back from walking my son to school.

The weather is calling for maybe a snow shower today, but it's supposed to be a little warmer tomorrow so the snow won't last long and will probably be gone by the time my husband gets home tomorrow night.  It has definitely been a weird year for weather.

Have a great day!
Niki

Niki, I just love the way you use Aqua Mist. You always pair it with the perfect colors and papers. I still haven't inked up my anniversary set. Shame on me. Now, about the snow. I cannot believe there is all that snow in May. I would die! I've gotten used to it in Jan and Feb, but I can barely handle snow in March:) Just a spoiled Hawaii girl I guess.

That's a beautiful card. I love the colors together. I can never really find that I like Aqua Mist when I use it on my own cards..strange!
The weather has been crazy everywhere. We're under water here in Nashville and you're under snow. This is nuts!

I'm in Western WA & it snowed here too- not like there, but SHEESH! HELLO. It's MAY. I don't think it made it to 45 here yesterday. Let's be done with that!

This is my favorite card that I've seen using the anniversary set. So much my favorite, that I had to sit down and CASE it as soon as I saw it in the gallery. Love how it turned out! Thanks for the beautiful inspiration.

Great card Niki! Those photos are awesome. Its been in the low 90's here and humid so the snow looks inviting! I LOVE how the world looks blanketed in fresh snow, as long as I don't have to go out in it.. LOL!

What a pretty card. The weather has been peculiar everywhere. I live in Florida and my heat clicked on about two weeks ago because it was 40 degrees and now it is in the 90s. I love the mountain view in the background. What a sight to see everyday. Hope you are feeling good.

This is so pretty!! I need to get mine inked up!
It sure has been a strange year as far as the weather. My daughter and her family took a trip to Wyoming and there was snow there when they arrived.
