birthday boy

This week, the challenge over at the Lili of the Valley Challenge Blog is One for the Boys.  Sometimes this can be a challenging theme for many stampers, but I love making boy cards.  Having two little boys (and a girl, of course), I am always on the lookout for cute boy stamps because they can be somewhat hard to find.  Lili of the Valley has some adorable boy stamps including this adorable Big Present image.  When I saw this week's challenge, I knew I wanted to play along.

I paired my Big Present image with some patterned papers from Cosmo Cricket's Material Girl paper pad.  (Don't let the name fool you.  There are lots of great patterned papers in this line that work great for boys, too.)  My sentiment is from the Boy Oh Boy A5 stamp sheet.  After coloring my image with copic markers, I sponged some peach pastel ink around the edges while it was still in the rectangle nestability die.  I did the same thing with the sentiment.  Then, I added lots of stitching and some bakers twine and buttons.

Here's a list of the copic markers used to color the image:
skin: E000, E00, E21
hair, shoes: E33, E35, E37
shirt: BG000, BG72, BG75
shorts: YR12, YR14, YR18
belt: C3, W7
present: YG63, YG67, R46
shadows: W1, W3
colorless blender

My son has been back to school for two weeks now.  He already brought home a cold on Friday.  Ugh.  My daughter and I have caught it now.  I hope the baby doesn't catch it.  I guess it's not such a bad bug compared to some of the things going around, but I have been really tired today.  Must be getting up in the middle of the night and catching the cold.  Other than that, though, we are all doing great.  Baby is growing like crazy and hasn't had any projectile vomiting in quite a few weeks.  He still spits up some, but it seems like he is learning to control it a little better now.  Thanks so much to everyone for your emails and comments asking how he is doing.  Hugs!

Well, I am off to get some dinner ready.  Have a great night!

Niki

Who Says you can't make something cute for a boy? This is just perfect!! Wonderful colors, and your Copic coloring is awesome. I love the way you sewed around the edge of the stenciling of the circle and image rectangle.
