hugs for Katie

Many of you have probably heard about Katie's story.  I met Katie quite a few years ago on a message board.  She is such a sweet lady and I was so sad to hear that she had been diagnosed with cancer.  Many people in the crafting community came together to create a fundraiser to help her family with the mounting expenses.  You can read more about Katie and the fundraiser on the Help for Katie blog.  You can follow along with Katie's story on her blog here.  Katie and her husband have also set a Post Office Box if you'd like to send her a card to brighten her day and let her know you're thinking of her (click the tab at the top of her blog for the address).

I used one of the digital images created for the fundraiser to create this card for Katie.  The cute little fire truck was drawn by Claire Brennan of Waltzingmouse Stamps.  I just adore this image!  I live in a house filled with sirens of every kind.  My 7 year old loves to play with cop cars, fire engines, ambulances, trains, etc.  If it makes a siren, he loves it!  (Flashing lights only make it better, too!!)  He's been  perfecting his sirens for years.  If I happen to be talking on the phone when he starts making sirens, the person on the other end usually thinks it a real siren! lol

Anyway, I printed the image on copic x-press it cardstock and colored it with copic markers.  I used some patterned papers from October Afternoon and added a little stitching to a piece of black cardstock.  I cut it out and adhered it to my card with foam adhesive to give it a little dimension.  I die cut some clouds using the My Favorite Things cloud dies and added them to my card.  I also added a couple red buttons tied with teal twine from my etsy shop.  I used these copic markers to color my image: E00, E21, E11, T5, T7, T9, C2, Y35, Y38, YR16, E31, E35, R27, R29, R59.

Have a great day!

Niki

I like that fire truck image and the zigzag road. Your paper choices, the clouds, buttons w/twine, and the greeting are perfect together! I adore everything about this lovable card! :)

Cute cute card Niki! My 7-year old is much like yours (and my 2 1/2 year old is following in his footsteps)...more than once he has made a siren noise while I am driving and I think it is a real emergency vehicle. He also has different sirens for the different types of emergency vehicles....ahh boys!!
