hugs & kisses

My husband is gone working away from home during the week now and only home on the weekends.  He's been doing it for a few weeks now.  It's hard on all of us, but we are making the best of the situation.  I created this card a couple weeks ago and tucked it into his bag before he left for the week.

I used the adorable April and Peter bunny stamps from CC Designs.  I stamped them together on my white cardstock and colored them with copic markers.  Then, I stamped them again on some scraps of patterned paper (the same papers I would be using on my card).  I cut out Peter's overalls and April's dress and paper pieced them over my images.  I added a little shading to their clothes with copic markers.   Then, I stitched around the edge of my blue patterned paper before adhering it to my black card base.  By doing it before, you don't have to worry about there being stitching inside the card that needs covered up.  I stitched my pink patterned paper to it's mat and stitched the buttons in place before adhering the layer to my card.  I stamped the sentiment on the bottom of my card and added a chipboard heart with a button stitched to it.  Last, I added my image using foam adhesive.

Have a wonderful day!

Niki

OH. MY. STARS. Could those 2 bunnies be any cuter!!! One of the things I love about coming to your blog is that I get to see things I'd never get to see otherwise (like those bunnies lol!) Your paper piecing and coloring is just unbelievable Niki, this is one FANTASTIC card!!!

Those bunnies are the sweetest. I sympathize with you having your husband gone. When my kids were little, my husband was gone on Sunday night or Monday morning and back on Friday night. We didn't like it but we did it for years because we had no choice. It isn't easy but you get through it. I hope life becomes easier for you soon.

Niki, I feel your pain with your husband only home on weekends! My husband and I had to deal with that for 6 months with a new job. He flew home every Friday and flew back out on Monday. It's not something I would like to repeat. I got the worst migraine of my life while he was gone and I had a baby and a toddler to take care of. My head hurts now just thinking about it! LOL
Hang in there!

That is just so sweet! I love how you paper pieced their outfits and shaded them. Beautiful job, Niki!
ps. We were in the same boat as you last year. My husband worked in New Hampshire for 8 months (we live in CT) and came home on the weekend. It was difficult but we made it through. Hang in there - time does fly! hugs, Angela

My husband has been working out of town for several years now, and is home on the weekends also. We kind of like it, to be honest. We actually miss each other, have things to talk about and share with each other, and want to do fun things together on the weekends. It has really 'spiced up' our marriage! :) Keep your chin up girl!
Those bunnies are the BEST!! LOVE your card too!!
